By default the Timecard and EService application will connect to the production system which is what a normal Timecard user would want. But as a developer you will want to have a play with the SOAP interface on the sandpit system to see how you can access and manipulate the data captured by the phone using a program (you don't want to be testing your program out on your company's real live business data stored on the production system!). Hence you will need to get the phone to talk to the sandpit system.

Connecting a phone to the sandpit system

Timecard

To get your Timecard enabled phone to connect to the sandpit system, please perform the following steps:

  1. Start the Timecard application and set your device ID to 'sandpit'
  2. Set the password to '1234'
  3. The Device will now communicate with the production server. During this comunication the Production server will tell the phone to connect to the sandpit system next time the application is started.
  4. Exit the Timecard application, and restart the Timecard application on the phone.
  5. On the phone enter the Timecard Device ID you have previously created in your sandpit system organization.
  6. On the phone enter the Timecard Device Password you have previously created in your sandpit system organization.
  7. The phone's Timecard application will now be communicating with the sandpit system and any activities you perform on the phone will be recorded in your sandpit system organization. This data will be available via the sandpit system's Timecard SOAP interface.
